The Bryansk region is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation, located in Central Russia southwest of Moscow, on the border with Ukraine and Belarus. The regional center is Bryansk.
The area is 34 857 km ².
The population is 1 220 530 people. (2017). Density of population: 35.02 people / km² (2017).
It is part of the Central Federal District.
The region borders on the north with the Smolensk region, in the west — with the Gomel and Mogilev regions of Belarus, in the east — with the Kaluga and Orel regions, in the southeast — with the Kursk region and in the south — with the Chernigov and Sumy regions of Ukraine.
