- Yaroslavl region
The Yaroslavl Region is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation and is part of the Central Federal District. The territory of the region in solemn speeches and historical literature is often called Yaroslav, Yaroslavl, Yaroslavl. It was formed on March 11, 1936, in modern borders – since August 13, 1944. It unites 17 municipal districts and 3 urban districts. The administrative center is the city of Yaroslavl. The largest cities are Yaroslavl, Rybinsk, Pereslavl-Zalessky. Borders with Vladimir, Vologda, Ivanovo, Kostroma, Moscow, Tver regions. Distance from the regional center to Moscow: by rail – 282 km; on the federal motorway M8 “Kholmogory” – 265 km; on a straight line – 250 km.
