The Republic of Ingushetia (Ingushetian Gualgai Mokhk, Gualgayce, short name: Ingushetia) is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation, a republic (state) in its composition. It is part of the North Caucasus Federal District and is part of the North Caucasus Economic Region.
The capital is the city of Magas.
In the west it borders on North Ossetia, in the east with the Chechen Republic, in the south with Georgia (with the border of Mtskheta-Mtianeti), the border with which coincides with the state border of the Russian Federation.
It was formed on June 4, 1992.
The smallest region in the Russian Federation, excluding cities of federal significance.
