The Ballet “Sleeping Beauty”

Composer: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

  • Before Tchaikovsky, the French composer Ferdinand Gerold turned to the same plot, composing a ballet of the same name (literally: Beauty in the sleeping forest — La Belle au bois dormant) according to the libretto by eugène scribe. This ballet was first performed at the Paris Opera on April 27, 1829 by choreographer J.-P. Omer with Maria Taglioni, Liz noble and others.
  • The new version of Tchaikovsky and Petipa was recognized as outstanding and the ballet took place among the world’s masterpieces of ballet.
