Immortal Regiment. Moscow. 9 may 2017. 850 000 people with portraits of relatives who died in the War.

Our friends from other countries often ask us why we celebrate Victory Day for so many years. Why are we so sensitive about this holiday? Because the Second World War touched every family of the Soviet Union. Almost no families without veterans. The whole country participated in the great Victory. Women and children mastered the male profession and got up to the machines. In the regions far from the front line, evacuated children were received and the exported enterprises were urgently put into operation. For the front and for the Victory they sacrificed everything-they worked with the last forces, starved, gave personal property to the resistance Fund.

Sunday, June 22, 1941. Hitler’s troops are advancing on the Soviet Union.

It is believed that on June 22, 1941 Germany attacked the Soviet Union. In fact, it is not quite so, against the Soviet Union began the war a few countries, among them: * Romania-about 200 thousand soldiers, * Slovakia-90 thousand soldiers, * Finland – about 450 thousand soldiers and officers, * Hungary-about 500 thousand people, * Italy-200 thousand people, In Croatia as part of the security division And these are only those countries that officially declared war on the Soviet Union. Evaluation of human losses

There are various estimates of the human losses of the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany during the great Patriotic war of 1941-1945. Human losses of the USSR in the second world war are estimated in the range from 7 to 46 million people. The differences relate both to the methods of obtaining initial quantitative data for different loss groups and to the methods of calculation. Most historians agree that the Soviet Union has lost 26,600,000 citizens. 4 million Soviet people were killed and tortured in Nazi concentration camps. During the war, 4.5 million servicemen were captured, more than 2 million of them were killed. In total, 34 476 700 Soviet soldiers took part in the fighting during the war. 490 thousand women were called to the Army and Navy. The number of war victims 13.7 million persons are civilians, of which was intentionally destroyed by the invaders 7.4 million, 2.2 million were killed at work in Germany, and 4.1 million died of hunger during the occupation.

The plan of German invasion in the USSR

Especially the desperate situation of prisoners of war was in the first year of the war, when it captured more than half of their total population (2.8 million people), and their work has not yet been used in the interests of the Reich. Camps under the open sky, hunger and cold, diseases and lack of medicines, the most cruel treatment, mass executions of patients and incapacitated to work and simply all objectionable, first of all the Soviet Commissars and Jews.

Siege of Leningrad

One of the worst moments of the great Patriotic war was The Leningrad blockade, which lasted 880 days and broke through on January 27, 1944. The number of victims it exceeds the loss of the US and UK combined, in the entire Second world war, as during the Nazi blockade starved to death more than 800 thousand people. During the blockade, the daily rate of bread for workers was only 250 g, for employees, dependents and children – twice less.

Fascist propaganda.

It is necessary to mention also that without denying the Holocaust of Jews, the German society still does not perceive the “Slavic” Holocaust, if the suffering of the Jewish people in the West is known to all (thousands of works), the crimes against the Slavic peoples prefer to “modestly” keep quiet.

Babi Yar: the terrible events in the autumn of 1941

Before the war, Nazi propaganda portrayed the Russian (meaning Soviet) as inferior compared to the Germans, beings, illiterate, downtrodden, incapable of skilled labour.

The atrocities of the Nazis in the Soviet Ukraine 1943

Even at the beginning of the war Hitler propaganda taught its soldiers, who went to the Russian campaign: “Destroy the pity and compassion — kill every Russian, Soviet, do not stop, if in front of you an old man or a woman, a girl or a boy…”Predatory precepts of the fascist executioners steadily implemented by the German army. In the USSR, destroyed the libraries and cultural values, took away the cattle, robbed to the bone the population, killing children, the sick, the prisoners, made slaves of thousands of Soviet citizens. The officers said,”the more ruthless you are, the sooner the Russians will crawl at our feet.” Immediately after the invasion, you could see stunning scenes. Soldiers set fire to entire villages. The fleeing in panic residents were shot with machine guns, no regard for the fact that among them were women and children. The killings of civilians were called “cleaning”  of the area of operations. One SS battalion, assigned to” clean up ” the neighborhood of Kiev, shot several tens of thousands of people, including many women and children. Even those who saw the SS became ill, and some of them were unable to continue the massacres. Then officers in order to finish the destruction of vast masses of people, ordered to banish all in the mined pits and blow them up. Propaganda companies photographed these heaps of corpses, shot them on film and produced films. Then for a long period of time in all theaters of Germany and the occupied countries of Europe were shown these films and touted as a Russian atrocities. In all German Newspapers printed pictures of corpses, and these murders were portrayed as atrocities of the Soviet troops.

1.3 million children died during the war.

Civilized Europe showed miracles of brutal cruelty. The inhabitants of modern Germany are to pray for the moral qualities of the Soviet soldiers, who did not retaliate for the cruelty and sadism.
